The new year is upon us and so are those new year’s resolutions that you made just a few days ago. The trick to having an epic year is not in saying them, but in executing them to completion.
More than 40% of people will break their resolutions before we finish out the month of January. I don’t want to be one of the statistics and I don’t want that for you either.
Four Steps To Success
Here are four practical steps to achieve your resolutions or goals this year:
- Write Your Resolutions/Goals Down – you are more likely to achieve your goals or resolutions if you write them down. This simple act will help solidify them in your mind and heart.
- Review Your Resolutions/Goals Regularly – Michael Hyatt advocates you review your goals or resolutions on a weekly basis. I agree. When you keep them close by, you are more likely to see them and act on them.
- Tackle Your Next Action – what is the next action that will propel you to completing your resolution or goal? For example, if you want to exercise more, your next action could be to develop a plan, ask for help, or sign up for a gymp membership. Once you complete the next action, tackle the next action until completion.
- Celebrate the Wins – Take time to celebrate the victories of your resolutions or goals. For example, if you had a resolution to complete a half-marathon and you complete it – celebrate it. Hang up the medal, post it on Twitter, share the news with your family and friends. Celebrate it, you deserve it!
These four steps can help you have success in 2015. If you are looking for a more detailed approach to goal-setting, let me recommend Michael Hyatt’s 5 Days To Your Best Year Ever program. I am going through the program myself and it has helped me clarify my intentions and goals for 2015.
