When I started blogging three years ago, I thought it would be simple to pump out posts. Wow…was I ever wrong. Today, I am learning I need to schedule my writing behavior and take advantage of quiet time on planes and trains.
For the past several months, I have been beta testing a new writing and publishing platform developed by John Saddington. Desk is a new platform that cuts out all of the madness and noise associated with writing. In fact, I am writing this post in Desk right now.
Why I Use Desk…
I use Desk for three reasons:
- Minimalistic – this a no frills app. It has great features including support for markdown and HTML, simple writing interface and access to quick formatting items to name a few. The window can be sized to perfection which is great for helping me keep focused on the writing.
- Multi-Platform Publishing – I can publish to multiple platforms simultaneously from this app. I can publish to this blog and a Facebook page or profile with the click of single button. I typically send my posts to my blog’s drafts folder just to make sure all the formatting and pictures come out the way I expect them to, but I don’t have to if I don’t want to.
- Easy Export – I write for multiple blogs both here on this site and in my day job as a Facilities Planner. I typically write all my posts in Desk and then export them to HTML or Word depending on who needs to review them.
I have used (and still use) other writing tools to help me get my work done including Byword, Multi-Markdown Composer, DayOne and Scrivener. Desk helps me maintain my creativity and inspiration during my writing process and helps me tell my story.
Question: What story do you have that Desk could help share with the world? You can leave a comment by clicking here.
