Have you ever wondered what forty years of friendship looks like? Well…the wait is over…it is pictured above. My dad and his old roommate have shared a friendship that has lasted forty years and its still going. Over those forty years, they watched each other get married and saw their children grow up, and some of them even got married. My dad stood shoulder-to-shoulder with him as he watched his bride battle cancer and eventually get whisked away into the arms of Her Savior.
A friend loves you all the time, and a brother helps in time of trouble. (Proverbs 17:17 (NCV)
Forty years of friendship is captured in a single moment under a desolate tree-covered road in Elizabeth, Illinois this past June. This picture taken from the observers vantage point of looking on two lives well-lived with wonderful memories. A single picture cannot always capture a lifetime of memories, but in this picture it does.
