If Benches Could Talk…

As personal projects go, I am embarking on three such projects. I have previously discussed my cemetery project. The second explores the beauty of lampposts. And the third is the subject of this post – benches.

Benches beg the occupant to sit and rest awhile. Each bench tells a story.

Some are aged – just like its occupants.

Some benches offer a moment for couples to meet and talk.

Some are brand new – put into place by caring hands and touched up with a fresh coat of paint to show its beauty.

Some have backs.

Some call out and beckon its visitor to catch a few zzzz's upon it.

Some invite you to sit and appreciate a sunset.

Some allow you to ponder friendship.

Some benches allow you to sit and have some fun with friends. Each bench tells a story.

The next time you see a bench – stop and rest awhile. Appreciate the moment. You never know who may have sat their before you. Maybe a celebrity who needed a rest. Maybe a famous statesman. Maybe a man who had no home. You were not the first to rest on it, and you will not be the last. You never know who may be next to rest their weary body on its seat.

If only they could talk…the stories they would share!
