Children's Ministry is just an amazing event when it all comes together in perfect harmony. Earlier we looked at where we hung out and yesterday we say the joy and excitement of a little boy enjoying the Jolly Jumper.
Today, we are going to hang out under the parachute.
The parachute quickly became one of the fun activities no matter how old you were. Anyone could grab an edge and begin to lift it up and down, up and down. You would hear the swoosh as the air passed under the parachute. The fabric gave off its own noises as the kids pulled it up and down.
In this picture, the kids are grabbing the edges and have just begun the majestic motion of pulling the parachute up to create the dome-like effect before they will whip it to the ground.
As I set my camera on the ground and start snapping pictures, I was able to get this picture with the parachute in full dome-like stature. Anacleto Rapping was instrumental in helping me to see and create these types of pictures. Normally, I would have just shot the picture from a standing postion, but he has been challenging me to look at the same picture from different angles, and this one was one of the experiments. I even was able to capture the reeds of grass or weeds that were right in front of the camera. It actually creates a really cool look since they are almost completely blurred out.
If I had to re-take this picture, the only thing I would add to my picture count would be lying on the ground underneath the parachute looking into the varied colors.
This parachute activity just invites you to come and have fun, and enjoy being a kid.
I hope you have enjoyed these little snippets of the Pskov Children's Ministry. Tomorrow we head back to the Czech Republic for a few pictures from the Family Camp.
If you are interested in doing any short-term missions, consider joining myself and others during the summer to either Russia or the Czech Republic. More information on these opportunities can be found at Encouragement International.
