It is 6:34am and I am sitting in the Grand Rapids, Michigan Airport, and I woke up late. I mean really late. I mean like the alarm didn't go off late. I wake out of dead sleep, hair all spiked and out of control. I usually pack the night before and so the only things I needed to add to my suitcase were my electronics. I literally flew out of bed, through a bucket of water on my face, quickly dressed, and headed out (with bags in tow). I walked into a dark hotel lobby, and the nice lady at the desk asked why I was leaving so early, to which I responded,
I'm running late for my 6:25am flight.
I head outside and I was met with…RAIN! Fantastic!
Usually the drive from Holland to Grand Rapids is nice and relaxing. This morning…it was the longest, darkest drive to the airport.
I get to the airport and turn my rental car in and head to the nice shiny kiosk to get my ticket and I get a priority verification ticket. Yep…that's what happens when you are late. I clear security in a record 8 minutes (usually its 15-20 minutes).
I get to the gate and it is oversold. So…I ended up on a United flight to Chicago and then on to Los Angeles, and a $300 travel voucher for volunteering.
Hmmm….not sure how that all worked out, but I love American Airlines!
