Day 1: My Life Among the Airport Seats

**Written in Los Angeles, CA on July 6**

Here we are – just a few short hours from departing for the first leg of our trip. Around 7pm, our 747 will be screaming down the runway towards the setting sun and we will wing our way towards the Czech Republic via Frankfurt, Germany.

Today, I found myself lost between packing and the Tour de France. With our bags under the weight limit (Slava Bogu), we are sitting patiently for the call to run widely down the aisles of the plane.

As I reflect on the past few months, I cannot believe that our time has come to once again head out on the road. It seemed like just yesterday, we were clearing customs in LA after our whirlwind spring trip. I once again find myself in airport seats (highly uncomfortable), but enjoying the experience of watching countless travelers meander through the seats. Until we meet again…
