We have arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia. Slava Bogu as Jim would say. It was just about freezing (literally) when we arrived from Amsterdam. Snow is definitely still hanging around, and by the looks of things it will be here for awhile.
We are resting comfortably at an orphanage in St. Petersburg that was constructed by the German Baptist Union. There are currently about 50 children who call this home from little ones to late teens. As we were having dinner, Sasha pointed out two little girls (about 8 or 9 years old) who just arrived today. The parents dropped the children off because they are battling alcoholism, and can't really afford to take care of them.
I have been playing around with some shot angles to see how best to convey our experience. Tomorrow, we head to Pskov for a few days before moving on to Petro. It is currently snowing right now, and so I am off to shoot a few pics while the night sky is alive and well.
