Review: Close to Home by Stuart Sipahigil

I have been avid reader of the Craft & Vision e-book series.  I find them to be challenging, informative, and inspiring.  This week I finished the latest e-book entitled Close to Home by Stuart Sipahigil.  His unique approach to finding everyday items close to home really opened my eyes to things around me.

The book tackled spaces that were in the home, around your neighborhood, near by attractions, and the like.  Stuart might have the the title of amateur, but his photographs and his perspectives are anything but amateurish.

His ability to spot a thundercloud or brilliant sunset is outstanding.  His advice is simple and rather common sense, but we think that the best photographs are found somewhere other than our surroundings.  The truth is our own surroundings are the best place to photograph because of their familiarity.  I know that I often forget that and I am so appreciative for the reminder.

This e-book will be one I read multiple times as a reminder of the things I should be looking for in my surroundings.  While on travel this week, I brought my camera to begin a personal project, but often become tired and lazy by the end of the work day.  After reading this e-book, I was inspired to go to work early, and then head out to take some pictures. That place may not be my permanent home, but it has been home for three weeks now and I am so happy I went – some of my pics turned out really good.

This is a must read for all photographers!  Pick it up here.
