Psalm 23 offers hope for the restless, comfort for those hurting, grace for souls that need restoring and the promise that the best is yet to come. We looked at who the Good Shepherd is and how he invites us to rest. As the rest restores us, he prepares us for the valley and at the end he has prepared for us a place to rest while he continues to protect us from those that would try to hurt us. At the end of our journey lies a dwelling place for those who know the Shepherd.
Text: Psalm 23:6; John 14:2
Main Thought: Throughout this chapter we have come to have a deep understanding of who our Shepherd is and how He cares for us. As we walked thru uncertainty the Shepherd walked each step of the way right next to us. As His sheep, we know His voice. We long to hear from Him.
Through our lives, we will ride the cycle of pastures and still waters, valley moments, and resting in the fold. In the end, the Shepherd will beckon us one last time but this time it will be to spend eternity with Him. By faith, we will enter His kingdom and rest.
As we come to the end of our journey in our physical bodies, we long to hear our shepherd say – well done, thy good and faithful servant.” What greater words can we expect to hear from our Shepherd.
Application: Live each day for the moment. Live each day as if it could be your last. Live to tell the world of how great and loving our Shepherd is.
Food for Thought: Have you told some about your Shepherd?
