Beside the Still Waters

Yesterday, I shared some words of encouragement from Psalm 23 during our weekend service.  Sometimes what we hear on Sunday escapes us during the week, because our lives get so busy.

For this week, there will be a series of devotions to help you step through Psalm 23.  I hope that this will add value to “hearing the Shepherd's voice” for you.

Text: Read Psalm 23:1 & John 10:1-5

Main Thought: The Lord is my Shepherd.  He isn't a shepherd, but He is your Shepherd.  By understanding that He longs to spend time with you, He is calling out to you to make it personal.

When the sheep hear their shepherd's voice, they respond and follow him.  They will not respond to a stranger's voice.  The shepherd provides for his sheep, just as the Lord provides for you.  He gives you what you need, not necessarily what you want.

Application: Today, spend time telling the Lord why He is your shepherd.  Personalize it.  He longs to hear your voice.  So pull up that chair and spend a few moments with your Shepherd.

Food for Thought:  Do you feel like God is providing for your needs?
