Seeing God in the Rain

As I sit in a lukewarm, less warm than anything, Starbucks watching the rain pour down outside, I am listening to Carlos Whittaker‘s release of “Rain It Down“.  On a video w/Integrity Music, he discusses how we tend to run the opposite way when we see God coming (much like a rainstorm).  He asserts that “what if we stood in the rain” (warm rain) and felt God rain down upon us.  How cool is that?

As I have been reading this week in Genesis and the life of Abraham and Jacob, they ran to God, yet still found ways to run away from Him – like we do so many times.  Imagine standing in the shadow of a tall building that shielded you from apparent danger – don't you feel protected?  Of course.  That is God.  He stands tall and mighty and protecting you.  He blocks us from so much, and when we encounter the storms of life, we find ourselves questioning God for why he allowed this to happen to us.

A friend of mine told me,

if these are the things that God allows us to experience, how much more is He not permitting to touch us.

What a brilliant thought!  As we go about our rain-soaked day today, imagine the rain as a covering of love and grace from our heavenly father.  May today be filled with a lot of love and grace for you!
