The Gift – Generation to Generation

In December, I began writing a story that will hopefully transform into a sermon series, video, narration, and live skit for the Christmas season.  For some reason, God has laid this burden on my heart.  I wrote the basic outline while sitting in the hallway of Kaiser hospital waiting for my dad to come out of prostate surgery.  It was the quietest my life has been in a long time and my mind was finally ready to be creative.

I was going one way with the story and then I let my mom read it, and she suggested I take a different slant to the story.  The idea was to give a gift that would be passed from generation to generation.  I know that for my family, we have a cool clock and rocking chair that I would love to keep.  Generational gifts, whatever they are, are important for the family and for the family's growth.  They help us remember history.  They help us remember family.  They help us remember good times, get through bad times and remind us of love.

What gift is passed from generation to generation in your family?  If you don't pass anything, what would like passed through the generations?
