Today, I decided to venture outside the apartment after some much needed rest. Life has the alarm ringing at 4:30am, coffee on at 4:45am, in at the office at 5:30am, meetings, meetings, more meetings, oh. . .look I can finally do some work, leave the office at 6:30pm – get up & do it all again the next day.
Enough about me though – I shot down to Maria's Italian Kitchen, ordered my Caesar Salad w/some killer bread, and proceeded to ask the manager, whom I've only met through my visits to the restaurant, how life was going. Now that is a loaded question.
So. . .as I wait for my Caesar Salad and killer bread, the manager proceeds to tell me that her only vacation she took (2 months) was for a medical procedure. She says "I need to have fun more", "I need a vacation" – I can agree with her there, but the greater question is, why did she feel comfortable telling me her story?
Sometimes God puts us in the path of people, store managers, people in general, whomever, who just need to be reassured – maybe I was just a safe individual; however, connection is at the root of this little story. Some relationship, however, shallow it is – is a stepping stone to the future. At some point she may be open to hearing the deeper truth of the gospel.
Are you looking for these moments to bless someone by hearing their story?
