I have spent this week traveling for work – 2 days in Salt Lake City and now I am writing from my hotel room in New Orleans. I am spending the weekend down here with my dad, because we are attending the Christening of the LPD-21 USS New York. I participate on a Work/Life Council for Northrop Grumman and as a gift they invited us to the sponsor's dinner tonight (formal, sit-down affair — break out the suit), and then tomorrow we will attend the Christening (aka Champagne bottle smash against the ship). Our seats are going to be awesome. We got a tour of the shipyard today, and let me tell you that is one awesome ship.
Tomorrow, they tell us that a few special people might be showing up, and thus the "Secret Service" was already working its magic. The Undersecretary of Defense was at the dinner tonight and the Secret Service was walking around, talking on their little up-the-arm microphones with the cool suits and the little earpieces.
Should be a great day tomorrow.
