Barren, desolate, scorched, tired, weary, ready to give up – do these words describe you? Do you find yourself awake at night begging to go to sleep, but everytime you sleep you find you are trapped in the nightmare of your life? There is hope, I promise. Sometimes our lives appear to perfect compliment to life on the edge – good job, good family and friends, and yet your soul is crying out for attention. Why is this, you ask? You have everything, yet you have nothing. Wandering in our own desert we question how we got to this point of desolation, but how do we renew, how do we revive ourselves?
Singer/songwriter Mark Schultz says in his song “40 days”:
“Lord, I came to the mountaintop
To be with You
I felt Your grace falling down like rain
And I was made new
But there are times like now when I’m all dried out
And it’s like 40 days out in the desert
Feeling like I’m lost forever
And crying out for You
But in these 40 days I’m going to seek You
With my heart because I believe You
Have brought me to this place
These 40 days”
Revive – We seek Him, our knees and face to the earth each morning clamouring for a touch of His sweet hand to rain down upon our tired and weary bodies. Cry out to God and He will hear you, come to Him broken and weary and He will give you rest. Psalm 23:2b-3: “he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul”. Are you letting God restore you today? Stop and listen for God’s sweet voice to rain down his mercies upon you.
