I came across an article about the seven secrets of inspiring leaders, and realized that many leaders have lost sight of what it means to lead with passion. Over the next seven days, I will write a quick little montage about each of the seven secrets that were taken from Carmine Gallo's new book “Fire Them Up!”.
Did you know that only 10% of employees are excited about going to work? Only 10%. So. . .that means that 90% of us are walking around are jobs looking for the nearest escape route out of our miserable existence of our career. How much of that is our fault? Do we go to work looking for ways to better the environment? Do we look for new opportunities? Do we search for more passion? So many questions, so little time.
1) Demonstrate enthusiasm – constantly
Does your boss inspire you to live your passion? Maybe the better question to ask is does your manager have passion. Carmine says “that you cannot inspire unless you're inspired yourself“. John Maxwell talks about this all the time – you cannot give what you do not have.
Everyday you wake up with a choice – you can be excited about the new day, marvel in the fact that you have breath to walk around or you can mope around and dread every part of the day. A leader must wake up each day and realize that they have a direct influence on their co-workers, their colleagues – if they live the passion, they inspire each of us to be the best that we can be.
Are you excited about work today?
