Over the past week or so, I have not been sleeping so well – not sure why, but I haven't. Last week as I reading through a devotional that was written by Corrie ten Boome, I was struck by how she described her prayer life. She talked about the difference between faith in prayer and prayer of faith. When we pray do we pray with faith or do we have faith in our prayers?
A couple of months back a friend of mine was going to be laid off from his position and it just so happens that we worked in similar fields. As we went to dinner and talked, we could relate and I told him of a couple of opportunities he could try. Well, his lay off got delayed and then just recently, he told me that they had made him an offer, but it wasn't for the same salary – it was for significantly more. He was overwhelmed by God's grace and faithfulness.
As I lie in a sound sleep one night, a voice awoke me and said this is an example of faith in prayer. Do we have faith? We prayed that God would work and provide a way; however, I think that maybe our hearts are just issuing lip service. We pray, because that is what we are supposed to do, but do we truly have faith that what we pray for will come to pass? We must have faith in our prayers. How else can we see God's hand working. The next time God wakes you up in the middle of the night, lend your ear to what He has to say – its probably very important.
