This past week, I had the chance to housesit for some friends and it was great because they don't have cable. I am a reality show junkie – there I admitted it, but sometimes it's great to just turn the TV off and read or watch a DVD. This week my choice read was “The Prayer of Jabez” which is a great read. I also watched “Mary Poppins” (classic & wonderful), “Three” (from Ralph Winter), and “Facing the Giants” (makes me cry every time).
A line from “Facing the Giants” talks about two farmers praying for rain, but only one farmer prepared his field for the rain – which one do think God sent the rain too? It got me thinking that in order for God to bless me I have to prepare my field for rain, my question is am I doing it?
Two weeks ago I came across a job posting with Haworth Inc for a Sr Workplace Strategist with 50% travel and an excellent opportunity to be challenged a little bit more. I could not entertain this job because I am currently sitting interim youth pastor at ABF; however, that week I was informed that beginning Sept 1 a new youth pastor would be arriving. I thought that was kind of interesting that I talked with God and then this happens.
As I continued reading the “Prayer of Jabez” I began to ask for enlarged territories and to be free from harm. I don't know if this is the first step to an enlarged territory, but I know I have to at least submit a resume, so that's what I'm going to do. Submit and leave the rest up to God.
