For the past week, I have been thinking very long and hard about my finances and now I find myself wondering “what do I really need vs. what do i really want“? Often when I housesit, I have time to myself to just relax, read a book, write a little and watch movies that I have on DVD. I wonder now, if I really need certain things.
Do I need. . .
The bottom line is I could live with a smaller TV, without HD channels and cable (although I really like my reality shows), without my T-Mobile account, without air conditioning. I live on my computer and when I am housesitting and there is no internet connection, I go crazy. I love DVD's but I could do without them for awhile – I certainly would get more reading done – which brings me to my books – I love them and its like an education – it can't be taken away from you.
Certainly, you have to have food, shelter, clean clothes, a bed and other necessary items, but I think we have lost sight of the fact that some things that we think we need, are just wants. It's certainly something to think on.
