Over my entire life God continues to shape and mold and direct me during his perfect timing. I don't always understand it or understand His timing, but when I look back over my life I see His hand of transition upon my life.
When I was 17 years old, I sang with the Continental Singers – that transition was before I ever finished high school and in fact I had to come back for my graduation – total time — less than 2 months from decision to go time.
Began coaching at LA Baptist High School right after I came back from the Continentals – decision to go time – 1 week.
Working at Litton in Administrative role to current Facilities role – decision to go time – 1 month (God pulled me out just in time or I would have been laid off)
Now a new change that God has directed me in begins in just a few days – 5 days to be exact. My friends wanted me to apply for a new job at work – Organizational Dev Specialist – this is the type of job that would really fit right into my wheelhouse. This job I could knock out of the park, affect positive change in a large organization, mold and mentor people – all the things which I feel God has gifted me to do – the answer from God. Your work/life balance is perfect and so I chose not to apply. This was a Saturday morning when I finally decided.
Who was I to know what the next inquiry would be the very next day from the elders at Agoura Bible Fellowship. My dear friend Bill called and asked if I had a moment to talk. I had just exited a movie so it was perfect timing. “Hey Dave – we would like you to consider being the interim youth pastor until a new one is found.” After stunned silence, I said I will get back to you after I pray about it.
After much prayer and God's prompting I decided to accept the position (in addition to my normal “real” job).
Interim Youth Pastor position – Decision to Acceptance – 1 week
For me, God works fast in my life to bring about change. For others it is different. As I get older, I reflect on the decisions that God has led me through and see the fast change in certain areas of my life. I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that I love making a difference in people's lives (especially students).
Countdown to Go Time – 5 Days – July 10th – Jr. High Nite begins and July 11th – Sr. High Begins.
