Do you ever long for those days when you can slip outside the bounds of the city walls and head off to places unknown? I do. Today is a beautiful day in SoCal and I find myself in my cubicle at work surrounded by the building walls and wishing I was outside clamouring for the fresh air. It is a beautiful day to strap on my trail running shoes and hit the ground running. The air is nice, the sun is beating down on you and as you wind through the single-track trail towards the summit your lungs are on fire and the furry little woodlen creatures scamper past you as your legs yell at your brain for relief. You reach the summit and look out over the canyon and realize today is a great day to be alive. Then you set out for a little longer run, heading down the same way you came enjoying the coolness of the downhill, your legs wishing you had taken a flatter route and when its all said and done, you thank God that you can live in a place like this. May you be challenged to get off the beaten path in the near future and find solice off the beaten path.
